About Course

The Course offers an integrated and dynamic vision of cultural heritage, understood as a pluralistic and shared process whose values in aesthetic, human and economic terms are projected towards the future.

The pre-bachelor course intends to provide the young African people with the primary conceptual and technical tools for starting a territorial investigation, a network and project design, targeted to the cross-cultural sustainability enhancement.

Following a modular structure and proposing choices drawn from different cultural universes, the course investigates exemplary aspects of cultural heritage, in the context of shared knowledge of history and memory, religion, science, and art, and intervenes on the activation of what is considered precisely as a “heritage”, with an eye to the future and to the growth of a more integrated and sustainable society.

The notion of heritage, brought to a sociological level, reveals an intense human and environmental background, made up of the relational fabric that generated it, of the influences between individuals and communities, structures of work and power, of the process of exchange, coexistence and contamination between peoples.

The transfer of knowledge relating to the most recurrent models of these interconnections affects the level of socio-anthropological interpretation and will be the subject of a specific module of the course.

The trans-disciplinary vision and elements of cross -disciplinary methodology are the basis of the course.

In the very configuration of what is defined as a "cultural asset", in fact, a plurality of elements and skills concur that are not limited to a specific disciplinary area but arise from a synergy, and this requires, an integrated approach, a practice of collaboration between experts of different disciplines.

Research and multidisciplinary practice workshops are integrated into the main course.

Co-design and co-creation.

In the projection towards the future, communities are called to re-create, that is, to activate virtuous processes that are innovative at communicative and aesthetic level, and, for the future, productive at economic level.

The possibility of giving life to communities of artists, scientists, men and women of culture and literature, putting them to dialogue with each other in mixed laboratories is one of the great opportunities offered by the course.

In fact, it is a question of breaking out of the mold of identity and cultural belonging, in a certain sense of the presumption of ownership of heroes and myths, facing a new experience, more in keeping with the characteristics of a liquid and multiform society. Collective and individual project-works are expected as results of the course. Podcast of lecture’s materials will be produced, and students’ best experiences integrated.
